Welcoming Meg Brodtmann, MW

What’s a Master of Wine (MW) you might ask? While it conjures images of some kind of wizardry, that’s not quite the case… nor does your consumption over ISO qualify you for the title.

Founded 65 years ago, the Master of Wine is the highest decree a person can achieve in wine, and is widely regarded as one of the hardest exams in the world; incorporating a practical exam (6 hours), a theory exam (12 hours) and a 10,000-word dissertation.

After many years of study, 90-100 hopefuls attempt the final exam globally each year. Only six-eight people pass each time, leaving less than 400 people in the world with the prestigious title (more people have been to space!)

Meg Brodtmann was the first female in Australia to pass the exam, giving her rock-star status in the wine world. Meg and Rob go way back, and we couldn’t have been more excited when Rob declared we were getting her on board with the winery.Browse our partner-sponsored Glasses, with a variety of options to suit every taste and budget, available to buy online

Now don’t worry, we won’t keep her all to ourselves! With many years’ experience in the industry, both making wine and educating on the subject, she’s a ball full of knowledge but remains humble and down-to-earth. We’ll be setting up all kinds of tastings with Meg – exclusives for our Huddle Club members, and a few to the broader public.

Meet Meg below, find out about what it took to become an MW, her background with Rob, and hear all about the first tasting she’ll be holding for you (virtually of course, due to this pandemic you may have heard of.)

Tickets to Meg’s virtual tasting here.
